Hazrat Khawja Moinuddin Chisti was a great Muslim Saint. We know very little about his early life. He came to Delhi during the Hindu rule in India.
He did not remain in Delhi for long. He went to Ajmeer. Prithiraj, a famous Hindu king, then ruled in Ajmeer. Hazrat Khawja Moinuddin Chisti had forty followers with him.
There was big tank, named Anasagar, in Ajmeer. The people of Ajmeer used the water of this tank. The king's camels were kept on the banks of Anasagar. Hazrat Khawja Moinuddin Chisti wanted to have his centre on the banks of the Anasagar. But the camel-keepers came and drove them away.
The following morning the camel-keepers came to take the camels out. But they were greatly surprised. They found all the camels standing. They could not move at all.
The camel-keepers went to Khawja Shaheb and asked his forgiveness for their rough behavior. Then all the camels could walk out of their sheds.
The followers of Khawja Shaheb used the water of the Anasagar. The Hindus did not like this. But they were afraid of Khawja Shaheb. They went and complained to the king. Prithiraj ordered Khawja Shaheb not to allow his followers to use the water of the tank.
The following day all were surprised to find that there was no water in the tank. The tank had dried up. So the people of Ajmeer had to suffer very much.
This news soon reached the ears of Prithiraj. He understood the reason. He immediately requested Khawja Shaheb to forgive him for his mistake. The tank was again filled with water. Such were the powers that Almighty Allah had given Hazrat Khawja Moinuddin Chisti.
Khawja Shaheb and his followers began to preach Islam. Many believed and they became Muslims. Khawja Shaheb was soon commonly known as 'Khawja Baba'.
Hazrat Khawja Moinuddin Chisti kied in Ajmeer in 1235 A.D. His Mazar Sharif is believed to be a very holy place.
