Welcome to the bloody victory day of Bangladesh. Three million peoples sacrificed their lives within the nine months (26 March 1971 - 16 December 1971) for the independence of Bangladesh. Pakistani General Niazi and his 93,000 army surrendered on 16 December 1971 after operating nine months bloody war. But in this short period they operated one of the largest genocide in the world history in Bangladesh.
Mid night, in 25 March, 1971, Pakistan army started a killing mission called 'Operation Search Light' on 7.5 crore Bangladeshi people. They arrested Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman the leader of Bangladesh.
21th February is a glorious historical day of Bangladesh. This day is celebrated as 'International Mother Language Day' in the world wide. This day was celebrated as a "National Mourning Day (Shaheed Day)" in Bangladesh Up to 1999.
Omor Ekushey Boi Mela "Immortal Book Fair of the Twenty-first (of February)" has been started from 01 February 2024. The book fair will be continued around the month of February. Many people were secrificed their lives in language movement on 21st February 1952. Bangla Academy organized this largest book fair to remember them.
